Local notes

Riverhead Car Service to the Airports and the City

Riverhead is the hamlet at the head of the Peconic River and the center of the Town of Riverhead, and the seat of Suffolk County. Main Street (Route 25) runs through downtown past the county court house to the riverfront; Route 58 carries the shopping east of the expressway; Flanders and Riverside sit across the river in the Town of Southampton. The North Fork wine country begins just east.

  • Main Street and Route 58

Main Street is Route 25 through downtown, by the court house and the riverfront. Route 58 runs parallel to the north from the end of the expressway and carries most of the traffic; on a busy afternoon the back way is often faster.

  • Riverhead Station

The LIRR station is on Osborne Avenue and Railroad Street, just north of West Main Street and the county court house. It is the last open stop before Mattituck. We meet trains there and drive guests on to the house or the vineyards.

  • Where the Forks Divide

Route 25 continues east to Aquebogue, Jamesport and the North Fork; Route 24 crosses into Riverside, through the roundabouts, and on to Flanders and Hampton Bays. The Hamptons are reachable from here without the expressway.

  • Weekends in Season

Summer and fall weekends bring farm-stand and vineyard traffic to Route 25 and Sound Avenue east of town, and beach traffic to Route 24. We set pickup times with margin on Friday and Sunday afternoons.

Chauffeured Car Service in Riverhead, in Detail

East End Lux provides car service in Riverhead with new, meticulously maintained luxury SUVs and chauffeurs in a suit. We collect at the house, the LIRR station, the court house, a hotel downtown or a vineyard on the way out of town, and run to every New York airport and Manhattan at any hour. Every ride is confirmed in writing with the price, so an assistant or estate manager can approve it or forward it.

Riverhead is also where the two forks divide: Route 25 continues east onto the North Fork, and Route 24 crosses the river toward Flanders and Hampton Bays. A car based here reaches either side without doubling back.

Questions

Riverhead Car Service Questions

How long is Riverhead to JFK or LaGuardia?

About an hour and a quarter to an hour and three quarters outside of traffic, west on the Long Island Expressway and then the Van Wyck for JFK or the Grand Central Parkway for LaGuardia. For a 7 a.m. flight we usually collect between 4:30 and 5 a.m. Summer weekend afternoons need more time, and we say so when we confirm.

Can you meet a train at Riverhead station?

Yes. Riverhead station is on Osborne Avenue, just north of Main Street and the county court house. You give us the train, the chauffeur meets it, handles the bags, and drives on to the house, a hotel or the vineyards farther east.

How far is Riverhead from Gabreski Airport?

About 20 to 30 minutes, south through Riverside and down to Westhampton. Gabreski (FOK) handles private flights; the chauffeur waits at the FBO, the private terminal at the airport. For flights into Long Island MacArthur (ISP) in Islip, allow about 35 to 45 minutes from Riverhead.

Can we book a chauffeur by the hour in Riverhead?

Yes, for a winery day, a wedding weekend or a day of meetings. The chauffeur stays with you and waits at each stop. Hourly as-directed service has a four-hour minimum for sedans and SUVs and six hours for Sprinters, buses and coaches, and the price is confirmed in writing before the day.

Can I book a ride for guests coming to Riverhead?

Yes. Assistants, estate managers and travel agents book most of our rides. Send the guest’s name, the flight or train and the address; we confirm in writing with the price so you can approve it or forward it. The chauffeur’s name and number arrive about 6 to 8 hours before pickup.
