Mattituck is a hamlet in the Town of Southold that reaches from Long Island Sound to Peconic Bay. Love Lane is its small center, beside the LIRR station; Route 25 (Main Road) and Route 48 cross the hamlet east to west; and Mattituck Inlet opens onto the Sound to the north. Vineyards line the roads on both sides, with Laurel to the west and Cutchogue to the east.

Route 25 (Main Road) runs through the center past Love Lane; Route 48 crosses the north of the hamlet nearer the Sound. Both lead west to Riverhead and the Long Island Expressway, and we choose between them by the hour and the day.

The Mattituck LIRR station sits at Love Lane and Pike Street, on the Main Line to Greenport. We meet trains there, follow the arrival, and wait at the curb with the bags handled.
