FOK Car Service: How the Pickup Works
Give us the tail number, or the operator and the estimated arrival time, and we track the flight. The chauffeur arrives ahead of the aircraft and waits in the FBO lobby. Modern Aviation is the fixed-base operator at Gabreski; if your flight department has arranged planeside pickup, the FBO escorts the SUV onto the ramp and the chauffeur loads the luggage directly from the aircraft. If not, you walk a few steps through the lobby and the car is at the door. Either way you are not waiting on anyone.

Times are outside of traffic. Summer Fridays eastbound and Sundays westbound run longer; the pickup time in your confirmation allows for it.

FOK Takes What HTO Cannot
Gabreski's long runway and county ownership mean larger jets and later hours than East Hampton. If your operator suggests it, there is usually a reason.
Tell Us the FBO Is Modern Aviation
There is one FBO at FOK, so there is no confusion, but confirming the name in the booking lets the chauffeur coordinate planeside access in advance.

International private arrivals can clear at Gabreski if the operator files ahead. Ask your flight department and let us know so the pickup allows for it.
Westhampton to the City in One Car
FOK is also the East End airport closest to Manhattan. A flight in and a chauffeured ride to the city is 1¾ to 2¼ hours outside of traffic.

Gabreski is the Hamptons' working private airport. Owned by Suffolk County and set just outside Westhampton Beach village in the Town of Southampton, it takes the jets that East Hampton's shorter runway and curfew cannot, and it shares the field with the 106th Rescue Wing of the New York Air National Guard. For anyone flying privately into the western and central Hamptons, FOK is usually the airport the pilot suggests.
A car service to FOK with East End Lux is timed to the aircraft rather than to a schedule. We follow the tail number or the operator's estimated arrival, and the chauffeur is standing in the FBO lobby, in a suit, when you walk in from the ramp. Where the FBO permits, a new, meticulously maintained luxury SUV is brought planeside and the luggage goes straight from the hold to the trunk. Southampton village is twenty to thirty minutes east; Quogue and Westhampton Beach are a matter of minutes.
Departures work in reverse. The chauffeur collects you at the house, drives to the FBO and hands the bags to the line crew. Private wheels-up times move, and we expect that. You receive a written price for the transfer before it is confirmed, and service is available 24 hours.
For a departure, we set a pickup time from your wheels-up time and the drive, and we confirm it in writing. The chauffeur handles the luggage at your door, drives to the FBO and passes the bags to the line crew. If the aircraft is running late, the chauffeur stays; if you are early, the FBO lounge is comfortable and the car is outside. US Customs is available at Gabreski with advance notice, so international private arrivals clear here rather than at a larger airport, and we plan the meet around that.

How early should I leave Southampton for a private departure from FOK?
Private aviation does not need the airline buffers. For a 9 a.m. wheels-up from Gabreski, a pickup in Southampton at about 8:15 a.m. is comfortable outside of traffic; East Hampton, about 7:45 a.m. We confirm the time with your flight department's requested arrival at the FBO and put it in writing.
Can international private flights land at FOK?
Yes, with advance notice to US Customs, arranged by your operator. We allow time for the inspection, which happens at the aircraft or in the FBO, and the chauffeur waits in the lobby until you are through. If customs is not available on your date, the flight may clear elsewhere first; tell us and we adjust.
Where will the chauffeur be when we land at Gabreski?
In the lobby of Modern Aviation, the FBO, dressed in a suit, before the aircraft arrives. Where the FBO permits and your operator has requested it, the car is escorted planeside and your luggage goes straight into the trunk. Otherwise the car is at the lobby door, a few steps away.
Will all our luggage fit after a private flight?
Private travelers tend to bring more, and a luxury SUV is sized for it: four passengers with a large case each and more. For a full cabin of six or seven with luggage, we recommend two cars and will say so in the quote. For larger groups we arrange a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a shuttle or a coach. Tell us about golf bags, cases of wine or anything oversized when you book.
What if our wheels-up time moves?
It usually does, and the booking is built for that. For arrivals we follow the aircraft, so an early landing or a weather hold moves the chauffeur with it. For departures, if the operator pushes the slot, text or call us and the pickup moves. There is no rebooking, only a new time.
