Local notes
North Fork Car Service to the Airports and the City
The North Fork runs east from Calverton and Riverhead, where the Long Island Expressway ends, to Orient Point, through the Town of Riverhead and the Town of Southold. Two roads run its length: Main Road (Route 25) through the hamlets and Route 48 (Sound Avenue in Riverhead) closer to Long Island Sound. Vineyards and farm stands line both, and Greenport, the only incorporated village, sits near the eastern end.
Route 25 and Route 48
Main Road (Route 25) passes through every hamlet and the vineyards; Route 48 to the north is faster for trips west. Both meet the Long Island Expressway at Riverhead.
Wine Country
The vineyards along Main Road and Route 48 are the North Fork's best-known day out. A chauffeur by the hour drives between tasting rooms and lunch, and waits at each.
Harvest and Summer Weekends
September and October Saturdays, and summer Fridays and Sundays, bring heavy traffic to Route 25. We set pickup times with margin and use Route 48 where it helps.
Trains and Ferries
The LIRR Main Line ends at Greenport, with stations at Riverhead, Mattituck and Southold on the way. The North Ferry and the Cross Sound Ferry leave from the eastern end.

North Fork
Chauffeured Car Service in the North Fork, in Detail
East End Lux provides car service on the North Fork with new, meticulously maintained luxury SUVs and chauffeurs in a suit. We collect at the house, the LIRR stations at Riverhead, Mattituck, Southold and Greenport, a vineyard, a restaurant or the ferry, and drive to every New York airport and to Manhattan at any hour. Every ride is confirmed in writing with the price, so an assistant or estate manager can approve it or forward it.
Two ferries leave from the fork: the North Ferry from Greenport to Shelter Island, and the Cross Sound Ferry from Orient Point to New London, Connecticut. We also serve Flanders, across the Peconic River from Riverhead in the Town of Southampton, and Shelter Island, its own town between the forks.
Questions
North Fork Car Service Questions
How long is the North Fork to JFK?
From Riverhead, about an hour and a quarter to an hour and three quarters outside of traffic by the Long Island Expressway and the Van Wyck. From Greenport or Orient, about two to two and a half hours. LaGuardia is similar. On summer and harvest Sunday afternoons we add time to the pickup.
Can we book a chauffeur by the hour for a winery day from the North Fork?
Yes. A chauffeur by the hour drives you between vineyards along Main Road and Route 48, to lunch and back, waiting at each stop. Hourly as-directed service has a four-hour minimum for sedans and SUVs and six hours for Sprinters, buses and coaches, which suit larger groups. We quote it in writing.
Which private aviation airport is closest to the North Fork?
Gabreski Airport (FOK), north of Westhampton Beach, is about 20 to 30 minutes from Riverhead and about an hour from Orient, outside of traffic. Long Island MacArthur (ISP) in Islip is about 35 to 45 minutes from Riverhead. Tell us the landing time and the FBO, and the chauffeur is waiting there.
Do you meet trains on the North Fork?
Yes. The Long Island Rail Road's Main Line has stations at Riverhead, Mattituck, Southold and Greenport, where it ends. Send us the train you are on and the chauffeur meets you at the platform, takes the bags and drives you to the house, the hotel or the vineyard.
Do you also serve Flanders and Shelter Island?
Yes. Flanders is across the Peconic River from Riverhead in the Town of Southampton, a few minutes from the start of the fork. Shelter Island is its own town between the forks, reached by the North Ferry from Greenport or the South Ferry from North Haven. The chauffeur rides the ferry with you.
