Tell us the tail number or the operator and the estimated time, and we track the aircraft in. Sound Aircraft Services is the FBO at East Hampton; the chauffeur waits in its lobby and, where the FBO permits and your operator has arranged it, drives the SUV planeside for the luggage. Helicopter passengers from Manhattan step off, walk a short distance to the lobby and find the chauffeur there. From the airport to a house in East Hampton village is usually under ten minutes; Amagansett, fifteen to twenty; Sag Harbor, about fifteen.

East Hampton Airport sits in Wainscott, at the western edge of East Hampton Village, in the Town of East Hampton, Suffolk County. It is the private airport closest to the estates of East Hampton, Amagansett, Sagaponack and Bridgehampton, and in summer it is as busy with helicopters from Manhattan as with jets from farther away. The town took the airport private in 2022 under a prior-permission system, and the FAA identifier changed from HTO to JPX; most travelers and most operators still call it HTO, and so do we.
A car service to HTO from East End Lux is a short, exact ride. From East Hampton village the airport is five to ten minutes; from Southampton, twenty to thirty. The chauffeur meets you in the FBO lobby in a suit, and where the FBO permits a new, meticulously maintained luxury SUV is brought to the aircraft. Helicopter arrivals from the city are met the same way, with the timing taken from the operator rather than from a guess.
The airport observes a nighttime curfew, and FBO services are not available overnight. That shapes how we plan: a late arrival may be routed to Gabreski in Westhampton Beach, and we will tell you which airport your operator has chosen and time the car to it. Every transfer is priced in writing before it is confirmed.
For departures, the drive is short enough that the pickup time is really the wheels-up time minus the walk to the aircraft. The chauffeur collects you and the luggage at the house, drives to the FBO and hands the bags to the line crew. Because the airport's hours are restricted, early-morning and late-evening flights are the ones to confirm with your operator; if a slot is not available at HTO, the same chauffeur drives you to Gabreski instead, about thirty-five to forty-five minutes west.

How early should I leave for a private departure from East Hampton Airport?
From East Hampton village, leaving twenty to twenty-five minutes before your requested arrival time at the FBO is comfortable; from Southampton, forty to forty-five. There are no airline queues, only the drive and the walk to the aircraft. We confirm the time with your flight department's instructions and put it in writing.
Can we arrive at HTO from outside the country?
East Hampton does not clear international flights, so an aircraft arriving from abroad clears customs at another airport first and continues to HTO as a domestic leg. Your operator plans that; we track the final leg and meet you at the FBO. Gabreski in Westhampton Beach can clear customs with advance notice if the operator prefers to land there.
Where will the chauffeur meet us at East Hampton Airport?
In the lobby of Sound Aircraft Services, the FBO, before the aircraft arrives. Where the FBO permits and the operator has arranged it, the car is brought planeside and the luggage goes straight into the trunk. Helicopter passengers walk a few steps from the pad to the lobby and find the chauffeur there.
We have a lot of bags for the summer. Is that a problem?
Not for a luxury SUV, within reason. Four passengers with a large case each plus hand luggage is routine; a full cabin of six or seven with the same load calls for a second car, and we will say so in the quote. The drive is short enough that two cars from HTO is a small matter. For larger groups we arrange a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, a shuttle or a coach.
Do you have a car seat for a short ride from the airport?
Yes, however short the ride. We provide and install child safety seats on request; tell us the child's age and weight when you book. Parents confirm the seat is properly installed before the car leaves the FBO.
