MTP Car Service: How the Pickup Works
Montauk Airport has no large terminal, so the meet is simple. Tell us the operator and the estimated arrival, and the chauffeur is parked at the field before the aircraft lands. Where the airport permits, the car is brought to the aircraft and the luggage goes directly into the trunk; otherwise the chauffeur meets you at the airport building and the car is steps away. Seaplane and charter passengers from Manhattan find the same arrangement, and the chauffeur knows the field well enough to spot an early arrival.

Montauk Airport is the last airfield on Long Island, on East Lake Drive between Lake Montauk and Block Island Sound, in the hamlet of Montauk, Suffolk County. It is privately owned and open to public use, with a single runway, daylight hours and a season that runs roughly May through October when the field is attended. Small aircraft, seasonal charters and seaplane service from the city use it; larger jets go to East Hampton or Westhampton.
A car service at Montauk Airport is a short one if you are staying in Montauk, and a useful one if you are not. The airport is a few miles northeast of the village, out past the harbor, and there is no taxi stand waiting. Our chauffeur meets you at the field in a new, meticulously maintained luxury SUV, loads the luggage and drives you to the house, the hotel or wherever on the South Fork you are headed. East Hampton village is thirty to forty minutes; Southampton, fifty minutes to an hour and a quarter.
Because Montauk's field is small, timing is everything. We take the operator's estimate, track the aircraft where tracking is available, and have the chauffeur in place early. The price is written and approved before the ride, and we are available 24 hours even where the airport is not.
Departures from Montauk are planned around daylight and the season. The airport operates from 8 a.m. to sunset and is attended May through October, so a sunrise departure or a November flight generally means East Hampton or Westhampton instead; we will tell you which field your operator has filed for and drive you there. For a Montauk departure, the chauffeur collects you at the door with the luggage, drives to the field and sees you to the aircraft. Village to airport is ten to fifteen minutes.

How early should we leave for a departure from Montauk Airport?
From Montauk village, fifteen to twenty minutes before your operator's requested arrival at the field is comfortable; from East Hampton, forty-five minutes to an hour. There are no lines at Montauk, only the drive. We confirm the pickup in writing and move it if the wheels-up time moves.
Can an international flight land at Montauk?
No. Montauk has no customs facility and is a small daylight field. Aircraft arriving from abroad clear customs elsewhere first; from there, Montauk, East Hampton or Westhampton is a short final leg. Tell us the final airport and we track that leg and meet you there.
Where does the chauffeur meet us at Montauk Airport?
At the field, before the aircraft lands. Where the airport permits, the car is brought to the aircraft and the luggage goes straight into the trunk; otherwise the chauffeur is at the airport building, a few steps from the ramp. How much luggage can we bring through Montauk?
The SUV is not the limit; the aircraft is. Most flights into Montauk are small, so luggage is usually light and fits easily. If part of your luggage is coming by road from the city or from another airport, we can collect it the same day and bring it to the house.
